About Waste Free Daily
A small editorial team writing practical, tested guides for households trying to make less waste — without overhauling their lives.
Waste Free Daily started in 2019, in a small kitchen that, to be honest, wasn’t very low-waste at the time. We had a recycling bin we filled correctly about half the time, a compost bucket we kept forgetting to empty, and a cupboard full of single-use bags from “just this one trip.” We wanted to fix it. The internet, helpfully, told us to buy thirty-seven new mason jars.
This site is what we wished existed back then: a quieter publication that treats waste reduction like a real household project, not a lifestyle.
What we cover
Six areas, written for real homes:
- Kitchen, food storage, leftovers, sustainable swaps, and the small habits that quietly cut the biggest source of household waste.
- Recycling, beginner-friendly guides to symbols, sorting, and what actually gets recycled in most regions.
- Composting, apartment to back garden setups, troubleshooting, and what to actually do with finished compost.
- Shopping, bulk aisles, refills, packaging-free options, and a clear-eyed look at “eco” marketing.
- Habits, small, durable routines that survive a busy week. The unglamorous side of less-waste living.
- Reuse, practical second lives for jars, boxes, clothes, and the items we already own.
How we work
Every article is written by a human editor and reviewed by a second one. We don’t use AI to write our content, and we don’t accept paid placement inside articles. When we mention a product, it’s because we’ve used it or its category is worth discussing, never because someone paid for the line.
When a reader spots an error, we update the article and add a short revision note. When recycling rules change in a major region, we revisit the affected guides.
Who we are
The site is edited by Erin Cole, with help from a small rotating team of contributors who specialise in different corners of household sustainability, kitchen waste, composting, packaging, and repair. We’re based in the UK but write with a global audience in mind, and we always flag when something is region-specific.
What we don’t do
- We don’t shame readers for using a bin liner.
- We don’t imply you need to buy a starter kit to start.
- We don’t pretend every household can compost or refill, sometimes the local infrastructure simply isn’t there.
- We don’t publish “30 Eco-Friendly Hacks” listicles unless they’re genuinely useful.
